An Analysis of the Impact of Large Fluctuating Rolling Mill Motor Drives on Power Quality in a Steel Plant

Abstract

The steel industry uses a lot of power and most of its equipment has non-linear characteristics. Because the power usage fluctuates randomly, even with large power facilities, there are often issues like low power factor, flicker, imbalance, and harmonics. The industry aims to improve efficiency, optimize maintenance, and boost productivity. To do this, stable power quality is essential. This paper discusses the current power quality issues faced by consumers, based on field measurements and an understanding of these problems.
